                                                                Work Experience.

Well third day of work experience and honestly I felt Super Confident !!!! :D.

I was walking to work with Spin 1038`s Naughty Threesome (three songs from 2001 to 2009) and laughing at some of the music we all used to be obsessed with.

I arrived a half hour before I was suppose to start (oops) but was greeted with big smiles which is always nice, I then went upstairs and put my coat and little blue bag into the locker I share with one of my co- workers (thank you !) before the English learning classes begun in half an hour.

I then went downstairs and was asked to do a bit of duplicate looking in the Adult Fiction, this consisted me going through each shelf looking for the two of the same books and deciding which one should stay on the shelve and which one could be withdrawn and put into a book sell (yeah even a library has book sales, my mind = BLOWN), this was was at first exciting because I never go into the Adult Fiction but after a while I realised how stupid I was because it wears you down so quickly even if you aren't tired but you get better with COFFEE !!!!!!!!!!!! ^_^ ^_^  and lunch.

Unfortunately I had to finish out the Adult Fiction D: but it went very quickly and then I had to go up to the desk and had to F4 them so I could withdraw them. After this we opened up to the public and I got to do some Re- Shelving books which  turned out to be quite fun seeing as there was some VERY funny children`s books that I would recommend to anyone who was in need of a laugh !

Overall I really Enjoyed my day and cannot wait for my next work day !!!!

Third day into my work experience and I`m feeling already at home with all my co- workers :D.

I started my day off a little earlier than usual today seeing as how I came in at quarter past nine instead of half nine (Eager maybe ?) but I was greeted with big smiles and happy grins on everyone there, who was meave, Mary and Aisling ( My Supervisor) who were sitting at the main desk talking.

When I was finished putting away my stuff, I was asked by Aisling to look up a series of books in which a teen (or a little younger) wanted to know what the name of the next eight books (yes I said eight) in the series was called, I finally found it on Goodreads (Thank God for them <3 ) and then gave it to Aisling to request it for the girl.

I then did some shelving in the Young Children`s section, this consisted of me running around like a headless chicken wondering what book went where and if I put it in the wrong shelve how would the little people find them, I eventually put them all back where they were (hopefully) suppose to be.

I then did some Pull Listing which consisted of more running around like a headless chicken trying to find books that other libraries wanted but could`nt find or afford, I found of them due to the fact that I knew where they were in general but I was soon confused and lost when it came down to the Dewy numbers and if WE even had them, I then printed off a slip to sellotape on the top and put it in the box for Ronan.

Aisling enlisted me to help her find  a book that went out of publish a little while ago Cough! *Long time ago* Cough called A Little Princess the illustrated version and after many head scratching thinking moments we finally found one on amazon for a little over a fiver !!.

A little while later we opened for the public and I had the funniest experiences with some of the customers, One man tried to give me his blood donor card instead, then thought he lost it, then found it and then asked me what he should do if he does`nt like the movies he has out and I had to try do this without laughing to hard.
Another man recommended me D.V.D`s I should watch and that he would be asking me if I had watched them next Wednesday.

All in all it was a very good and tiring day :)

This is what my work placement looks like :)

It was my second day of work on the 3/09/12.

I started off my day by putting my bags into my locker in the kitchen and then went downstairs to be told that the language classes where going to be downstairs today due to the fact that a Killkenny author was coming down to talk to three primary about how and why she wrote the book.

I was then asked by my Supervisor Aisling if I could write down any teenager/young adult books I knew so that when they are buying new stock they could buy some more to keep up with the demands of us young ones (Sorry Aisling) , this was great  for me because I am a book lover and I read a lot of Teen Fiction and so for the rest of the morning I wrote a whole big list of books that I known are out or are coming out  and searched up any author I thought had a good book coming out.

I was then brought to Primrose Hill Primary School to give a collection of books to their Headmistress and was also given a number of requests that the head and/or the teachers wanted to teach to their class, this was all to do with the schools Class sets which was a number of books given to a school to read and then they would get the author in to talk about the book.

When we came back Ronan came and gave us back all the books that had been rented over the last few weeks, we then needed to sign them back in and if they were requested I printed off their slip and either put it into the box for the other libraries or our cupboard for a customer to pick up, it was hard at first to shelve them at first but after a while I got used to were certain authors were placed.

It was then time to open the doors for the public and I learned how to give people new cards and renew books and cards.

My first day in work.

Hi Everyone :) Roisin here and I am are going to be blogging about my experience in work.

I started off my day at 9:30am standing outside the Library honestly very nervous but very excited to start working with something I love and to experience what work is really like.

When the doors were open for me I introduced myself to one of my Supervisors named Ann, I shook her hand as enthusiastically as possible and was shown into the library, I was then shown around it and told what each section shelved (as in books).
After this I was told about the Dewy system in which there was a Dewy number on every book (except  Young adults and children) and if you wanted to find it all you had to do was find the Dewy number associated with it and HEY PRESTO there it would be.

The Dewy system came in very handy as afterwards I had to shelf books back into there right place for the next person to find them :), I felt very proud of doing this because I was a little confused at first but soon was putting everything back into their rightful place and knew how to do it.

I was then asked to find books that we had that other people in different libraries wanted, there was some that I knew like the wizard of oz, fallen, The Recruit and Divine madness and a few adult books that I have never heard of, I then had to print of a slip of paper and place it on the book for Ronan to collect and deliver.

We than opened up for the public and from then on  I signed books and D.V.D`s  in and out for people
and stacked books back to where they were suppose to be.

I finished at 3:30pm and was very happy about what I had done.
